Pick My Brain (1 Hour)
How It Works
Your 60 minutes can be used in one of two ways:
Option 1: Live Q&A (Zoom or Phone)
This is an opportunity to pick my brain. Come prepared with specific questions that can be reasonably answered in just 60 minutes. Think:
- How I keep clients on track during a call
- How I’d handle a specific workflow issue
- How I might phrase a tricky client query
Ask for:
- Feedback on an already drafted cold/warm email to a potential client
- Feedback on how you word a quote/next steps email to a client
- Feedback on a wrap-up email to a client once work has concluded
- Feedback on your house style sheet
- Feedback on your list of questions for a recipe edit style sheet call
Option 2: Complete a Recipe Edit + Get One-on-One Feedback
You choose a recipe that truly needs a recipe edit (for example, a recipe from your own personal blog or a blog without an editing staff not a recipe from a well-respected publication with staff editors like the NYT, Serious Eats, America's Test Kitchen—the sloppier the recipe, the better for this exercise).
Details:
- Your hour is split into 30 minutes of independent document evaluation (30 minutes to assess your edits before providing feedback) and 30 minutes of direct feedback delivered via live call, in-line edits, or written notes. We can go over your edits via a 30-minute Zoom, or I can provide in-line feedback on your edits (Track Changes in Word).
- Complete your own edit and send it to me. I will need 7 days with your document before I can provide feedback via Zoom/email.
Note: Recipes must be submitted for approval before you begin editing. Not all recipes will be approved, and approval is required to proceed.
Terms and Conditions:
Pick-my-brain sessions are for specific decisions, edits, and approaches that can be addressed in 60 minutes or less, not complex coaching issues. Broad questions like "How do I find clients?" are not possible to answer in 60 minutes or less and should be reserved for coaching sessions.
This is not for:
- Complex business strategy talk
- Broad questions like “How do I get clients?”
- Big business decisions like deciding on a niche or putting together a marketing plan
Sessions are subject to editor availability. This package is only available for Recipe Editing 101 graduates and former coaching clients. All other clients should review the available coaching packages.
Lastly, feedback on sample recipes is intended for skill-building and learning. I do not recommend using these edits as portfolio samples/public examples as doing so may raise copyright and usage concerns.
Not sure if this is the right package for you? Send me a brief email with what you plan to discuss and I will help direct you to an appropriate package.
